Hilton Head Public Service District (PSD) will host Clemson Extension Service’s “Carolina Yards” workshop from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Aug. 6 in the PSD Community Room at 21 Oak Park Drive off Mathews Drive. Clemson Extension’s Carolina Yards program teaches how simple and effective landscaping methods can create a low-maintenance yard that works with nature rather than against it. Join Clemson Extension Agent Ellen Sturup Comeau to learn how choose landscaping that works with your property’s soil, water wisely, and reduce runoff from your home landscape to protect our island environment.

Hilton Head Island can annually experience 40 to 60% of the demand for treated drinking water being used to irrigate residential turf and landscape. Carolina Yards teaches you how to water wisely and incorporate South Carolina native vegetation into your landscape to reduce your need to irrigate with drinking water.
