Hilton Head Public Service District (PSD) has once again been honored with the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control’s Facility Excellence Award as a utility and for its Recycled Water Plant on Oak Park Drive. This is the PSD’s fourth straight such honor, which recognizes environmental protection and regulatory compliance. Hilton Head PSD provides tap water, sanitary sewer, wastewater treatment, and recycled water. The PSD’s Recycled Water Plant annually recycles about 1 billion gallons of treated wastewater, producing beneficial recycled water that is then used for golf course irrigation and wetlands nourishment, with zero discharge to area waterways.

“The Facility Excellence Awards recognize the PSD team’s commitment to protecting our delicate island environment and as stewards of our most precious natural resource – water,” said PSD General Manager Pete Nardi. “We are grateful for the support of our customers and community and are excited to keep working to ensure a sustainable future for our island.”

Individuals or groups interested in touring the Recycled Water Plant can contact the PSD at (843) 681-5525 or [email protected].
