The PSD’s Bob Davis, our Recycled Water Services Supervisor, passed away unexpectedly in his home on the morning of August 29, 2021, at the age of 68. He will be greatly missed for his unique sense of humor, strong work ethic, and immense care for his family, friends, and coworkers. He will be remembered as a great father, grandfather, husband, friend, and mentor. His heart was bigger than he would ever admit.
He joined the PSD in 2016 after having already enjoyed a distinguished career in both industrial and public wastewater treatment. Bob’s wastewater treatment career began at the age of 19 working at a pilot plant for the International Paper Company in Tuxedo, NY. He spent 37 years with the company in a variety of positions and sites.
Following retirement from International Paper, he started working for Georgetown County (SC) Water and Sewer District. Bob was a member of the Water Environment Association of South Carolina and the Water Environment Federation for 22 years where he served on various committees and was awarded the William D. Hatfield Award in 2019, which recognizes outstanding performance and professionalism.
Bob was also a member of the American Water Works Association for 11 years and served on the S.C. Environmental Certification Board, which administers technician and operator licenses.
Bob is survived by his wife, Susan; his children, Kyle and Kaitlyn; his daughter-in-law, Amanda; his grandchildren, Johnavan, Bailey, Kaidon, and Aubrea. Bob was a longtime blood donor. Both his family and the PSD request that those who are able, please donate blood in his memory.
